I have one exactly like this, do you know where I can get it restored?

  • morrismagic08:

These usually have dual voltage plugs inside for european and american grids. Not like today with fixed voltage systems non serviceable parts and f**ing region codes and the like! The manufactures actually cared about the customer back then. Even ease of maintenance was put in to concideration!

@Audioquest56 Good luck with that! Mine needs further restoration but the sound quality is excellent!

  • Audioquest56:

I’ve got a bid on one of those right now.

  • bluenazz:

You actually have the same system? That’s pretty amazing (:-> I really like the sound of that Kenwood but mine needs a bit of work as it’s flakey. There’s also a switch on the back panel to flip the voltage on it.

Sorry I just saw it on the power bar. thank you for this video. I have all the same equipment!

    what are the odds…

    Enjoyed?

The Who playing through a vintage Kenwood receiver and dynaco speakers?

    I’m having an eargasm!

    seriously, I loved it. However, isn’t the German voltage 220V? I didn’t recall seeing a power adaptor…

Thanks for that tip J! I’ll check that out!

  • bluenazz:

Thanks River, it’s a very natural sounding system and not as sterile as the newer rubbish.

  • AG3304:

That sounds really rich and good,Craig.Very good find!

  • spellerine:

Sounds like a great receiver/speaker combo! It didn’t sound like CDs usually sound to me!

  • DrCassette:

That’s a really nice receiver!!! The inside is pretty much identical to my receiver, that’s right. Also all the buttons are in the same place! Now, that’s funny! Your receiver was bought in Germany, my receiver was bought in America and brought here by somebody, because mine doesn’t have the original plug on it :D On the right circuit board in front of the heat sink there should be four transistors “2SC1345″. These need to be replaced, because they’re bad. Doing that improves the sound quality.

Yes, I also have an early 70′s Kenwood tuner that is good, heavy, and strong. Kenwood were certainly one of the better audio companies.

I think I once had the matching Kenwood cassette deck for that rig. It had a bad channel, so I just unloaded it. But I really liked how well made it was, very nice quality, far better than most decks of the era. And it was heavy for a cassette recorder, (had a nice wooden case). IF I recall, it had a large motor and flywheel too. Kenwood is kewl!
